Cabrera volunteers work through a CEED onsite administrator who organizes the teachers service based on the needs of the community.The CEED Cabrera Project is broken down into four categories of teachers:
- Early childhood/Montessori teachers
- K-8 certified teachers
- Teachers with a TOEFL certificate or equivalent
- Vocational/Environmental education teachers
The CEED Directors selected Cabrera because of its caring and willing people. This poor but quaint fishing village on the north coast of the Dominican Republic is starting to feel the strains associated with a developing tourism industry. Unprepared educationally, the people of Cabrera are unable to compete with better educated foreign labor. By donating your time or money you are providing a chance for these wonderful people to fend for themselves and remain in a community where their families have lived for generations
